Mountain tour over Denti di Terrarossa peak
This high-Alpine tour leads along Alpe di Siusi next to raw, jagged peaks up to Denti di Terrarossa on an altitude of
2,600 meters. The tour starts at Campaccio (1,800 m) just above Castelrotto at the mountain station of the Alpe di Siusi cable car. From there follow the no. 7 trail up to an altitude of 2,000 m and turn left to reach Mahlknecht hut. As the scenery slowly turns from soft alps to high mountains you will reach Dialer hut (2,150 m). Continue westwards on the no. 8 and no. 4 trail near a broad gravel road, and enjoy the superb vistas of the South Tyrolean Dolomites, the
Sella and
Marmolada mountains to the East, and Val di Fassa valley below. Have a good rest at the Tierser Alpl mountain refuge before you continue to the North along the Denti di Terrarossa mountain range until you reach the top of the pass on an altitude of 2,500 m. Enjoy the stunning panoramic views of
Alpe di Siusi, Sciliar and the Trento Dolomites. The descent which follows is rather steep so sure-footedness is required until you get back to the soft meadows and green hills at Gasthaus Panorama inn. Follow trail no. 2 all the way back to Castelrotto.

Snow shoe hike to the Rio Freddo waterfalls
Snow shoe hiking is an activity which is becoming more and more popular with many of our guests, which is why we offer
20% discounts on snow shoe rental at the hotel. The tour starts in Castelrotto and leads to the icy waterfalls of Rio Freddo river near Sciliar and Bagni di Razzes. From the village center you will walk in direction of Wegmacherhof farm near the ski lifts. The no. 6 trail leads over large soft meadows to San Valentino. During this part of the walk you can either use the existing trails and paths or get a feel for the snow shoes at the edge of the forest to the left. The tour then leads to San Valentino chapel, from where it leads through forest trails back down to Siusi and Bagni di Razzes.
Art, culture and, of course, shopping!
Despite the many attractions and events in the
Alpe di Siusi area and Sciliar – Le Rose nature reserve you might, at one point, feel like an alternative program. The marvelous little artists’ town of Chiusa is the perfect place if you’re looking for romantic little side streets and want to follow in the footsteps of
Albrecht Durer, the famous German painter, printmaker and theorist, who loved spending time here. Look up to the imposing
Sabiona monastery which towers above the town near the Isarco valley. Or why not visit
Bolzano, the regional capital, which will enchant you with its mixture of Mediterranean flair and South Tyrolean customs, as well as with its many insightful museums, among which is one dedicated to
Oetzi the Ice Man, and the great shopping facilities under the romantic arches.
